heyhey. k ps vry long nv blog already. lols. haha lets talk abt my hols. last last fri, which was end of term 1, went to chess prelims for south zone wif jon, ck, weiyang n some other club members. haha won 1 but second 1 was a careless freak loss when the board is like a sure win. haha then the next day on sat in the morn ponned chess trng n went for math trng. then after tt made my way to jon's hse n played fifa on his xbox for abt 2 hrs. sht kept getting owned cos he got home ground advantage. then after tt went together to bishan for the 2nd n last day of chess prelims. the 3rd n 4th match was held tt day, starting at abt 6pm+. won the 3rd n was matched wif jon for 4th. he gots 1.5 pts n i got 2 pts b4 our last match, so we decided a draw to gimme 2.5 pts and him 2 pts. so its sort of fixed lar. cos only vry few 2 pters can qualify but jon said he probably can as his opponents' points are very high. cos when players with equal points at the end of the last round are ranked according to the total number of points of all their opponents, the higher the better. means if 2 players got same pts the 1 who played proer opponents will be ranked higher. haha u get the point. so in the end me, weiyang, n jon qualified. ck dint cos he onli got 2 pts out of 4.

sun n mon was quite sian for me cos i had to stay at home to prepare for apmo (asia pacific math olymp) on tues. actually can't prepare much, just get myself accustomed to doing math again after so long. but mon tink i fell a bit sick wif cough. tues went for the comp, onli managed to solve 1 qn out of 5. quite alot of other pple solved as well but i tink my soln the nicest:). after straining my brains felt dam drained of energy cos was already nt feeling vry well. so after tt went c doct.

wed, thurs, fri i just stayed at home. dint mind nt going out for tis hols. so slack ard at home, do a bit of work n the rest of the time doing nth. dint even prepare for chess comp on sat n sun. haha tink i've already given up. nv played for so long.

sat went to math trng at nus again. after tt left early to go for chess finals in kampong glam cc. haha surprising venue. ck came as well to support us. was braindead after maths already n didnt in the least felt like playing. firz game treated it as a warmup, screwed up my opening (supposed to stun my opp. but in the end i realised i duno how to use) n lost the game w/o putting up a fight. then went to join the bridge game wif jon sim, weiyang, ck, n justino (sum anderson jc guy n the 1 who tycoily defeated him in the prelims). kept winning at bridge. 2nd game was easy, cant believe my opponent qualified for the finals. 3rd game played against some supposed quite pro guy who was in i.chess club in my pri sch oso, so i know him. won quite convincingly with a pattern kill. went to eat dinner b4 the fourth game at nearby hawker center. after eating played bridge there again. then the last bridge game i shuffle a bit then dam sian so split the deck into 4 packs of 13 cards each from top to bottom n distributed a set to each player. tts how we got quite imba number of cards for our best suit cos the tricks for the previous game were mostly arranged by suit. haha jon sim got 8 diams n started wif 3 diam bid. i counted 6 spades on my hand n screened ck n realised he got 5. so i raised the bid for spades n weiyang raised for hearts. he raised till 6 hearts so i went to bid 7 spades. haha so must slam. weiyang played hearts for the start n i realised ck got no hearts while i got no diams. so good can trump both:). then in the end really slammed. haha. went back for the 4th game, my history wif my 4th opponent is 1 win 1 loss out of 2 games for previous comps. the loss was due to time when i'm up a piece:(. he started wif a less orthodox opening n nt knowing the counter to it (our coach sux)i played an even less orthodox defense. managed to survive the opening quite satisfactorily n when i was starting my counter i gave a free ma. my ma eat his bing n his che just eat my ma lydat. wa dam sian. im sure make tis kind of mistake. lost this round lor altho end game i still putting up a fight. haha at the end of firz day i got 2/4, weiyang got 0.5, jon got 1.5. so both weiyang n jon no nope for top 8 so they decided to pon on sun. walao. i got hope lar if i actually win the last 3 games the nxt day. so tt night i decided nt to go also if nt quite lonely.

haha sun morn sumhow feeling not-so-loser n decided to go n give it a try. altho i just realised tt my hw is piling up like krazy. my firz opponent was relatively unknown n i won him quite easily. my 2nd opponent supposed to be not bad cos he, like me, got 3 out of 5 pts so far. then i realised tt his my opponent for the first game of the prelims, who i won just using some elementary tactics. so qutie relaxed when i played wif him, played my fastest game cos his response dam fast n we have played the same opening with each other at the prelims. i even analysed for him at tt time, so he avoided a trap of mine. but too bad he went on to another variation n fell for another trap n lost a piece. after tt he fell for another trap tt supposed to let me fork his cannon but he circumvented tt n instead let me shuang pao jiang n he died. haha the shuang pao jiang is at the side nt the center he nt tt noob. the game over in like 10 mins. so i won the first 2. last game the hardest, if i won got good chance of making top 8. played wif jinxiang, HCI guy. he got 3.5 pts while i got 4 b4 our last match. so he no hope of getting top 8 but he simply refused to let me fix a win for myself. i kept on persuading him even till after the game began lol. did funni tings like adjusting my clock n pretending to claim tt he cheated. disturbed the pple sitting beside us lol. haha at the start i sacrificed a horse to attack. then got too carried away making jokes tt i carelessly let his che escaped from confined position to pin my pao n che. wa ttss dam demoralizing cos i sacrificed 1 pieced, was rendered another piece inactive, n his che got out of confinement. so heck i just chiong my center bing to terrorize his defence since most of his pieces are nt despatched yet. push my bing till he squeezed his two pao in front of his jiang n i happily moved out my king to join forces wif my che to aim his shi. he canot up his shi to protect or his xiang to let his che protect so he sacrificed 1 pao to defend it. so i gain back 1 piece. immediately after i push my bing again n fork another time, if his shi eat then my che eat his shi. he dint want tt to happen so i won another piece n now effectively a piece up. so finally got some advantage n relaxed a little. now the trouble is to break out of the pin. saw tt i can possibly set a trap by getting my pinned pao to the center n threaten checkmate, den our ches will be facing each other n when he forced to defend against checkmate i will eat up his car. but my xiang in the middle obstructing my pao's movement so i flew my elephant up to seemingly block his another car from moving. then he really tot so so he move his car away to find a better position. haha den i gleefully converted the pin into something more constructive n choued his che. he resigned:). haha so i really went to win the last 3 games n derived some personal satisfaction out of it. but i dint expect much cos i realised my opponent pts shld be ard the lowest. it turned out tt i was 9th in u18, there were 7 5-pters from 4th to 10th position. so lucky sia. i actually won the 4th lor. n i realised tt i played wif 4 players out of the top 8 b4 i won all of them. nxt yr better nt be so lucky again. but still its a gd day n ck n jon really surprised n congratulated me for putting up a gd show:)

sry for the long blog post. wa these few days sch dam slack but always go home sleep till night do onli a little hw, cant sleep at night n the next day will be dozing off in class. :(.
