OK sorry i really can't stand it. Shida posted such a nice long truthful and informative post that I have to blog back a reply...
I fully agree with Shida in what he mentioned in his post. Many useful hints for those of you who are wondering how to get started from square one...especially RI guys. You know, single-sex schools DO have a negative influence on you. At the end of your four years, if you don't come into contact with girls much (even MSN sometimes doesn't count), it's very awkward when you actually go out with one, even if she's just a normal friend and you would never dream of being interested in her. Well...it all comes down to how you act.
Anyway, I just wanted to add some stuff to what Shida said. About getting to know/choosing girls. The most important point is you CANNOT be too CHOOSY. The girls are not standing in a row in front of you for you to choose anyone (unless you happen to be a really wonderful guy - look at Shida's rubrics to rate). Therefore, here are some points you should remember when making girl friends:
Firstly, you DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT, base them on their looks only. Do not judge a book by its cover. There is much more inside than on the cover. Currently, many immatured guys all think that looks is the most important factor. The first question 90% of the guys ask when they know that their good friend has a new female friend is "Is she chio?" THIS IS NOT RIGHT. It does not matter whether she is chio or not. Anyway, she is just a friend. Wentao, listen up NOW. Don't go around saying "You make friends with her for what if she's not chio". Do you guys really think you're that handsome and eligible yourself?
The most important factor should rightfully be their character. This can vary greatly depending on what you're looking out for. This is also something hard because sometimes girls (all people actually) put on an act when they meet strangers or people they don't know well. You have to get to know the girl better and understand her to figure out her character. Don't ask me how, its just a...feeling :P So of course you should go look out for the girls with more positive points and fewer negative points (duh!). It can be useful to remember also that your character needs to be up to standard as well. If not, go do something about it!
For all noobs who still don't understand what I'm saying - I once knew this girl who was chio but her character was one of the worse I've ever known.
Remember once again, looks only complement the character. True beauty is always on the inside.
